In the words of those
who live here and their families
We ask every resident and family for their candid thoughts. Here is a selection of what they have shared with us over the past months.
Back to HomeWhat Residents and Families Say
Chan Lai-ying
Daughter of resident, Sha Tin
My mother has been at Wan Hei for just over a year. What I notice most is that she knows the staff by name — and they clearly know her. That consistency matters a great deal to her. She is 82 and has always been particular about her routines; they accommodate that without making her feel difficult.

Wong Ka-fong
Resident, Tai Po
I was reluctant to move here, frankly. I had lived in my own flat for forty years and could not imagine being somewhere managed. After three months I find I am simply living — with less to worry about. The outings to Tolo Harbour on Wednesday afternoons have become something I look forward to each week.

Lau Ho-ming
Son of resident, Kowloon City
Our father had a fall at home eighteen months ago and we began looking seriously at residential options. We visited four places before Wan Hei. The difference was tangible: it was calm and genuinely warm, not performatively cheerful. My father settled in within two weeks. We were not expecting that.

Tam Pui-shan
Resident, Tai Po
The courtyard is lovely in the mornings. I take my tea out there before most people are awake. No one disturbs me; they simply know I like it that way. I appreciate being understood without having to explain myself repeatedly. That takes time to build and this team has managed it.

Yuen Siu-wai
Daughter of resident, North Point
The pricing is clear and hasn't changed unexpectedly, which matters when you're planning around a fixed budget. I do wish they had parking for the occasional evening visit, but that's the Tai Po location rather than anything Wan Hei can control. Overall my mother is well looked after and that's what counts.

Ho Chun-kit
Son of resident, Yuen Long
Dad is 78 and was getting isolated living alone in Yuen Long. Since moving to Wan Hei six months ago, he phones us with things to tell us about — the market trip last Saturday, someone he met in the dining room, a conversation about football with the young man on the team. He's engaged again and that's not a small thing.
